He just stood there. Right in the middle of the road, well not exactly in the middle but not at the sides either, you get the picture right?Peculiar behavior in the Nairobi CBD traffic. We are on the move kinda people, you don't just stop to admire the buildings or whatever. He had been pulling a cart full of water jerricans. They looked very full of water, I bet they were very heavy to be pushing around in traffic while also trying to dodge the ruthless drivers. I also bet he was not a day older than twenty five. He actually looked like he was 20, I assumed. I also assumed he'd had it rough in life. He must have had it rough, otherwise he would be living the dream, driving one of those cars he was standing next to. That's what happiness is to us,no? Big cars, big dreams... I obviously did not know his story, so I assumed, as we often do. So there he was, in the almost middle of the road, looking like he needed a break from it all. Breathing heavily like he was gathering all the strength he had left to continue. Couldn't he just have made his load lighter, carry less jerricans maybe, he would have moved easier that way, but then again, that's just me assuming again. Some people looked at him, wondering why on earth he would do such a thing. Stopping in the almost middle of the road, didn't he know how dangerous that was? How about how much he was inconveniencing the drivers? Couldn't he see that his big cart was blocking the way? Most people minded their own business I assumed it was because it reminded them of the reality of life. The unhappiness that exists ,even if it's not in our own lives. Uncomfortable to look into the mirror of our society. That no matter how much we may be looking forward to some kind of life There exists those who look up to our kind of life. After about 5 mins, our mystery guy, taking his break on the almost middle, huffed one last time, took a deep breath and moved his cart along. Much to the relief of the drivers that obviously had
much more important places to be.
Nice pieceπππ―

DeleteNice one and creative❤
ReplyDeleteVery much appreciated sheqo
DeleteWow! Very interesting piece! I get a really “the grass isn’t greener on the other side” type of feel! We always judge and assume things about others. Sometimes we assume their life might be better, or their life might be worse, than our own. Truth is, you never truly know what another person is going through.
ReplyDeleteAnd you have literally just given a summary, thank you veery much
DeleteNever dissapoints
ReplyDeleteYou know it
